A TV company is looking for people who would be willing to spend half a year on a desert island with a dozen of other people. The participants’ everyday life will be filmed and broadcast on TV. The contestants will have to survive without electricity, phones and other modern devices. You are the director of the TV company, and you get the following application via e-mail:

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to you because I saw your eye-catching commercial on Channel 3 approximately two days ago. No sooner had a caught a glimpse of it than I knew I would have to be one of your enthusiastic participants on the advertised desert island. Needless to say, I would blissfully try out what it is like to live without all modern conveniences like electricity, telephones, and other seemingly important gadgets.

Admittedly, I consider that this once-in-a lifetime experience would be absolutely beneficial for me as living in poor conditions would not only teach me how to be more environmentally conscious but it would also mean an open door to a completely new world. Probably, I would have to hunt and fish with bare hands and I would have to go bare foot as well, but I could experience how powerful nature can be and I could observe wild animals in their original natural habitat. It sounds a bit dangerous, however, I am absolutely sure that due to my great coping skills, I would manage to survive. I also believe that this plain and simple lifestyle would encourage me to appreciate those crucial inventions that surround me in my everyday life. Were I on the desert island for some time, I think my personality would develop a lot as I would have to learn how to adapt myself to other people, to unknown animals and to the accidental inclement weather.

In my opinion, I would be eligible for this fascinating reality show as I do not mind being in the spotlight. I also am said to be an out-of-the-ordinary person who has an adventurous spirit and who can handle rapidly-changing, unpredictable situations effortlessly.  I am also regarded to be a cooperative, energetic youthful girl who is longing for facing incredible challenges and unbelievable experiences no matter how hard they are. Actually, my innermost positive thoughts would help me to survive in harsh conditions even if I feel miserably and I am totally disillusioned.
